The "Load Only When Needed" option should be UNCHECKED in your TCP/IP Control Panel in order to reliably run IPNetTuner. IF you do not see an Options button in your TCP/IP Control Panel, go under the Edit menu, select "User Mode...", then click on the "Advanced" radio button. This will then display the Options button in the TCP/IP Control Panel.
IPNetTuner is a simple application that allows you to optimize your Mac's Internet performance. IPNetTuner supports over 30 adjustable parameters including the TCP Window Size, Time Out intervals, Maximum Segment Size, and MTU. It also provides a convenient test tool so that you can immediately see the results after adjusting specific parameters (or after opening one of our preconfigured tune up documents). Users typically report speed increases of between 10 - 50% with IPNetTuner.
Why might you need IPNetTuner? Open Transport's default settings must enable connections for both slow analog modems as well as very high-speed ethernet connections. As such, these default settings are not optimized for either type of connection (although they do let both types of connections to work). To get the most out of a specific type of connection you really want to setup Open Transport so that its internal settings best match that of your network connection. This is where IPNetTuner comes in....to assist you in tweaking these Open Transport settings.

5. Installation and Removal
To install the application, simply copy it to your hard drive.

the tuner window for basic operating instructions.

IPNetTuner works in a fully functional trial mode for 21 days. Use after this trial period requires registration.
To remove the application and any accompanying files from your hard disk, simply move the entire IPNetTuner folder to the trash.
6. How to Get Started
Two of the example files provided can be tried instantly to improve the performance of your network. Just double click the example file and observe whether performance improves.
Use the "Analog Modem" settings file if your Internet connection is made via an analog modem and Remote Access.
Use the "Cable/DSL/ADSL Modem" settings file if you have a cable, DSL, or ADSL modem.
These examples are designed to quit IPNetTuner automatically after changing your settings. To prevent IPNetTuner from quiting so you can view the corresponding settings, load the settings with the "Load Settings" button or press and hold down the Option key when double clicking a settings file.

8. Registration and Licensinhg
IPNetTuner is commercial software subject to the
terms of the accompanying License Agreement. You may use a
trial version of the software during a single trial period
of up to 21 days. You must then register the software if
you wish to continue using it beyond the trial period.
Notice the trial is designed to expire after 21 days. If the
software reports it has expired, this usually means someone ran
a previous version of the program on your computer. Please
contact us directly for information on how to reset the
trial period.
Once you have downloaded the application, there are 3 basic
ways to register:
(1) Register on-line by pressing "WWW Registration Page"
in the About Box for the IPNetTuner Application.
You need to have a web browser running (Netscape Navigator
or MS Explorer) and a valid credit card number.
(2) Use the supplied Register via Kagi application to fill-in a Kagi
registration form. Follow the instructions on the form to
email, fax, or postal mail your registration to Kagi. Most
common forms of payment are acceptable including personal
checks.
(3) For site license registrations, we can fax your company a
proforma invoice. Please contact us directly at

In each case, a program registration code will be sent to you by email once your payment is received.
To complete your registration, enter your information in the proper fields of the IPNetTuner Registration Dialog Box and press the "OK" button. The IPNetTuner application will contact our server and confirm that the registration information was accepted. (Please note: the only information sent to our server is the application name and the registration code. No other information is transmitted). You will receive a "Thank You!" message confirming that your registration was accepted.
